Skin Type:

For All Skins, even sensitive.

What It Does:

Clinique’s Super CityBlock™Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF25 This is one of Clinique’s best-known skin care products, and it’s among the best sunscreens Clinique has to offer. Its effective overall formula means it gets excellent customer reviews.

Clinique’s City Block Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF25 comes in an opaque squeeze tube with a screw-top lid. The product is a lightweight cream that blends very well into skin without leaving colour behind. It’s easy to apply to your skin and feels lightly hydrating; for those with very dry skin, you might find that you need to put on an additional moisturizer underneath to give your skin a boost.

The Super City Block formula has a lot to like about it, starting with the fact that this provides reliable broad-spectrum sun protection with a sunscreen that has the added benefits of both Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Dioxide. It protects skin from UVA and UVB radiation and is considered non-risky in terms of of skin sensitivity. Because it is gentle, titanium dioxide is a great sunscreen active for sensitive, redness-prone skin. It’s great for use around the eyes, as it is highly unlikely to cause stinging.

This sunscreen also has a variety of antioxidants like, gentian root extract, and vitamins C and E. Antioxidants protect the cells from damage caused by these free radicals.

Research has shown that when you have antioxidants formulated into a broad-spectrum sunscreen, this boost’s its effectiveness in protecting your skin against UV and other environmentalfreeradicals.

Journal of Long Term Effects of Medical Implants 2004 and Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology 2012

Also, the opaque tube the sunscreen is packaged in means the product will stay stable in the presence of light and air.

  • broad-spectrum protection against UVA/UVB rays
  • absorbs excess sebum and leaves the skin matt
  • prevents skin ageing
  • suitable for the eye area and sensitive skin
  • ideal on its own or under makeup
  • a clear, non-greasy texture

Conclusion – Clinique City Block™ Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF25

I have tried so many sunscreens on my face, but find that they all cause my skin to dry out as the day wears on, even the most natural and chemical free ones. Clinique has found the formula that works for me, this leaves my skin with a very comfortable feeling, not oily or greasy, but never feeling tight or dry. Also, the bonus is that it works as a light concealer which I love.

You can also use this as your moisturizer, as it has many ingredients that moisturizers with sunscreen protection have (like high, broad-spectrum SPF and loads of antioxidants) and the great thing about this is you can wear it under your foundation, or as a substitute primer every day, safe in the knowledge that your skin is getting great SPF.

It looks like a tinted moisturizer when you squeeze it out of the tube but applies very sheer, and it is very lightweight and smooth, it evens out my skin tone and makes it look more radiant. I find applying makeup on top of City Block very easy to do.

I’m confident that it will protect my skin well from daily sun exposure, and hopefully, it will slow down the aging process of my skin due to the high SPF. It is now an everyday essential for me.

I Highly recommend this product for both winter or summer use.

Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

What It Does:

When the Liquid Exfoliant is applied to the skin, the liquid is rapidly absorbed; the leave-on formula is a gentle, non-abrasive solution. The Salicylic Acid (BHA) chemically exfoliates the surface of the skin, this allows for the removing of dead cells and unclogging pores, leaving your skin with an even and refined texture.

BHA (salicylic acid) has anti-inflammatory properties, and helps to reduce blackheads, blemishes, and calm redness.

With the addition of Green Tea, this delivers antioxidants to neutralize free radicals to provide essential anti-aging properties. While Methylpropanediol optimizes the effectiveness of the BHA and hydrating properties, that leaves a smooth, dewy, fresh finish.

You will find your skin is left feeling cleansed and decongested, with a clarified and balanced tone.

All skin types can use this product, but it’s particularly well-suited for those who have combination or oily skin that is prone to getting clogged pores. The liquid solution is easy to apply, and won’t feel oily.

As with all Paula’s Choice Skincare products, the formula is fragrance-free and Non-irritating, which is always good news for skin.

This product is Not tested on animals.

Conclusion: Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

For people who have skin types that vary, you can use this on areas of your skin that are oily and prone to breakouts or blackheads, most frequently the nose and chin. Then on your forehead, cheeks, and neck, you can use the AHA exfoliant.

When using AHA and BHA products, give 2-3 weeks to see results. This will allow for the old skin to be replaced with new fresh, healthier looking skin.

Don’t feel you have to use any one product all over your face, go by what your skin is telling you and apply accordingly.

Some people say that AHA and BHA products can make skin more sensitive. What you need to remember is that you are removing extra layers of dull skin. The new skin beneath will be more sensitive to sun exposure. You combat that by applying a broad spectrum sunscreen SPF30 or higher every day, which is essential for healthier, younger-looking skin.

I would recommend this product.
